Image and Video Resolution
When selecting a high resolution 360 camera, pay close attention to both still photo resolution and video capabilities. Cameras like the Ricoh Theta X offer extremely high-resolution images (11K/60MP), ideal for large-scale prints and detailed virtual tours. Video resolutions above 5K ensure sharp immersive footage. Higher resolution is essential for professional applications but may require more storage and powerful editing hardware.
Stabilization and Horizon Leveling
Effective image stabilization is critical for smooth 360 videos. Look for features such as 360° supersmooth stabilization and horizon lock to avoid shaky and tilted footage, especially in action or sports environments. Cameras like AKASO 360 and Insta360 X3 include advanced horizon steady technology that maintain level visuals regardless of motion.
Durability and Weatherproofing
For outdoor and adventure filming, water and dust resistance are important. GoPro MAX and Insta360 ONE X2 feature waterproof designs suitable for rugged use. Weatherproof cameras extend your creative opportunities including underwater and extreme weather conditions.
